Top 3 Acne Medications
Acne is a common disorder in skin that may last for long in an individual. For many people, acne isn’t a problem anymore when they reach the age of 30. But there are also individuals who continually carry the facial burden longer than expected. Treatments are important to avoid complications. When simple treatments are not enough, perhaps it is time to consider medical options for the acnes. The top three acne medications are the following:1. Benzoyl peroxide This anti-bacterial medication takes care of killing the P. Acnes, acne-causing bacteria. It is an antiseptic agent that reduces the amount of barren pores. It will take approximately 3 weeks to see the changes. This ingredient is also used for bleaching the hair and fabric so make sure to use it right. It is both over-the-counter and prescription drug that comes in gel or cream. There is an estimated 3% of individuals found to be allergic to such substance so make sure that you don’t belong to that group or else you will experience skin inflammation if you apply it on your skin.2. Salicylic Acid Used to treat skin disorders such as dandruff, calluses, and warts,...

Become Aware of What You Eat – What Are Food Additives, After All?
Medical experts, doctors, nutritionists always advise us to avoid foods rich in additives. Everyone around us speaks about food additives, how harmful they are for our health…But do we really know what food additives are? How can we avoid these tiny health enemies that are hidden in aliments without having the slightest idea about what they really are and how they damage our organism?Food additives are substances added to aliments before they are put on the supermarket shelves and bought by consumers. Food additives can be natural substances or chemically synthesized substances. Additives are introduced in foods for various reasons, such as: for storing and preserving foods fresh for a longer period of time, especially foods that alter in a few days; for enriching the nutritive value of foods; for making foods processing and production easier; for enhancing foods’ taste, flavor, color, aspect etc. Most alimentary products alter very quickly if they are not treated with additives. This aspect is not very important in the case of some foods – like those that contain sugar. If these particular sugary foods are not added additives, sugar particles will simply stick with each...
Nutritional Values of Eggplant:
Eggplants contain Vitamin C and Potassium. Other than these two nutrients, eggplants do not have a significant nutrient value. Eggplants also have anti-bacterial, diuretic effects, as well as flavonoids (cancer fighting anti-oxidants). 1 cup cooked contains 25 calories.
Do you have natural or acrylic nails?
I used to go to the salon and get my nails done every 2 weeks. Mainly becos of the job that I had, and it was almost impossible to keep my natural nails. After about a year of doing this, I had them removed. OH MY GOODNESS! I was shocked at the damage they caused to my nail bed. It was almost like I didnt have any nail at all, it was red, ridged from the fill ins and they HURT!I vowed from that day no more! I now do my own manicure every week and have long natural nails that I get complimented on all the time, you can too! You will need: -File, a smooth grain for natural nails -Buffer: this can be the block buffer like the salons use, or you can buy a 3 way buffer -Cuticle Remover Cream: I use Sally Hansens, its under $5 and it will last you a very long time -Cuticle Pushing sticks: I like the ones from Sally Beauty Supply, (under $2 for a package of 5) they are thin and not as sharp as the ones from Wal-Mart. You dont want to damage your cuticles -Anti-bacterial Soap and a Nail Brush (an old toothbrush will work just as well) -Clear top coat polish, or your fave colour Once you have all your supplies start out by filing your nails. Getting rid of all the rough...
Find out what makes Fruits healthy and the nutrition!
Don't you just love fruit? But do you know what makes it good for you? Here are a list of your top ten favourite picks. Find out what is available, what makes it healthy and the nutrition content of each one. 1. Apple What's available: a large number of dessert varieties are available, such as Cox's Pippin, Empire, Gala, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Egremount Russet, Fuji, Golden Delicious, Spartan and Braeburn. Cooking apples tend to be larger and have a lower sugar content than the eating varieties. Apples contain traces of starch (carbohydrate), especially when they're still growing. Apples are rich in pectin (a type of fibre) and some varieties are used to make cider. Healthy highlights: apples contain flavonols called quercetin, which has been shown in numerous studies to have anti-cancer properties. A long-term study carried out in Finland found that eating lots of apples was strongly linked to a reduction in the risk of developing lung cancer. Quercetins have also been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory properties, so may be useful in conditions such as arthritis. In traditional medicine, raw apples have been used to treat constipation, whilst cooked...
Martha Stewart vs Me
Martha Stewart vs Me...Martha's way: Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips. My way: Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for Pete's sake, you are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it anyway.Martha's way: Use a meat baster to "squeeze" your pancake batter onto the hot griddle and you'll get perfectly shape pancakes every time. My way: Buy the precooked kind you nuke in the microwave for 30 seconds. The hard part is getting them out of the plastic bag.Martha's way: To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in thebag with the potatoes. My way: Buy Hungry Jack mashed potato mix and keep it in the pantry for up to a year.Martha's way: To prevent egg shells from cracking, add a pinch of salt to the water before hard boiling. My way: Who cares if they crack, aren't you going to take the shells off anyway?Martha's way: To get the most juice out of fresh lemons, bring them to room temperature and roll them under your palm against the kitchen counter before squeezing. My way: Sleep with the lemons in between the mattress and box springs.Martha's way: To easily remove...
Remedies for Athletes Foot
RemediesAlcohol, rubbing Diluted rubbing alcohol can be dabbed on the affected area with cotton balls and allowed to dry. Aloe vera Apply aloe vera gel twice daily. Apple cider vinegar Soak your feet in a 50/50 mixture of apple cider vinegar and water for ten minutes daily up to ten days or until symptoms disappear. This will relieve the itching and peeling of athlete's foot. Soak a cotton ball in vinegar, coat the fungus and let dry. Apple cider vinegar has antifungal properties. Baking soda Soak the feet in a solution of baking soda and water for about 30 minutes daily. This will change the pH of the skin. Also sprinkle baking soda on the feet and in your shoes and socks. It will soak up some of the perspiration and help neutralize the skin at the same time. Bleach Make a solution of two tablespoons up to half a cup of laundry bleach to a gallon of warm water and soak your feet for 10-15 minutes twice a day. This should clear up athlete's foot in a week or ten days. Boric acid Wash the feet in a mild solution of boric acid. Chaparral An effective herbal remedy uses chaparral. Mix six tablespoons of dried chaparral to one quart of boiling cheap...
Antibacterial soap. Conflicting studies on whether they are good to use!
Seems we can't even decide how best to wash our hands this day and time! Geeze, we can put a person on the moon, put a man-made heart in someone, and clone a sheep; but we can't figure out something as simple as handwashing! I remember when the hype began about anti-bacterial handwashing products. It was to be the best thing since sliced bread. Kill those germs! Now, studies are showing that they may indeed cause more harm than good by killing 'good' bacteria on our bodies. Also, they are reportedly harming the environment! (I posted some websites where you can read for yourself) What is a person to do!? Do you still use antibacterial handsoap/handwash/dishliquid? http://www.life.ca/nl/107/soap.html http://www.nurseweek.com/features/98-10/soap.html
